Tripping Over the Lunch Lady 2
1. campaign (n.)- a planned group of especially political, business, or military activities that are intended to achieve a particular aim
2. dodge (v.)- to avoid being hit by something by moving quickly to one side
3. braid (n.)- a length of hair or other material that is divided into three parts that are then crossed over each other in a special pattern
4. period (n.)- in school, a division of time in the day when a subject is taught
5. cast (n.)- a covering made of plaster of Paris that is put around part of someone's body, forming a hard case to protect them while a broken bone repairs itself
6. technically (adv.)- according to an exact understanding of rules, facts, etc.
7. fault (n.)- a mistake, especially something for which you are to blame
8. smack (v.)- to hit something hard against something else
9. sore (adj.)- painful and uncomfortable because of injury, infection, or too much use
10. squash (v.)- to crush something into a flat shape
11. lap (n.)- one complete trip around a race track or from one end of a swimming pool to the other
12. bounce (v.)- to move up or away after hitting a surface, or to cause something to move this way
13. doofus (n.)- a stupid person
14. bruise (n.)- an injury or mark where the skin has not been broken but is darker in color, often as a result of being hit by something
15. absent (adj.)- not in the place where you are expected to be, especially at school or work
16. a couple (n.)- two or a few things that are similar or the same, or two or a few people who are in some way connected
17. bet (n.)- an amount of money that you risk on the result of an event or a competition, such as a horse race
18. tuna casserole (n.)- a dish made by cooking tuna, vegetables, or other foods in liquid inside a heavy container at low heat
19. unfortunate (adj.)- unlucky or having bad effects
20. incident (n.)- an event that is either unpleasant or unusual
21. sloppy joe (n.)- a bun filled or covered with ground beef cooked in a spicy tomato sauce
22. saltine (n.)- a thin crisp cracker sprinkled with coarse salt
23. volleyball (n.)- a game in which two teams use their hands to hit a large ball backwards and forwards over a high net without allowing the ball to touch the ground
24. curfew (n.)- a time by which a child must be home in the evening
25. water main (n.)- the main underground pipe in a system of pipes supplying water to an area
26. snow day (n.)- a day when children do not have to go to school, and sometimes adults do not have to go to work, because there is a lot of snow
27. limp (v.)- to walk slowly and with difficulty because of having an injured or painful leg or foot
28. count on (v.)- to be confident that you can depend on someone or something
29. all right (adj./ adv.)_(in a way that is) satisfactory or reasonably good; ok
30. boom box (n.)- a large radio and CD player you can carry with you
